What is Wisdom? To be wise is to have the power of discerning and judging properly what is true and right. To me this is the essence of the spiritual journey - developing and exercising the power of discernment.

We may not be half slave and half free anymore, at least in 19th century terms, but we are half left-wing and half right-wing. And propaganda has been pushing us further apart. Could the Union be dissolved? Could the house fall?
I have been thinking about the word "triggered" that is bandied about so much these days. It has become somewhat of a loaded word, but all it means is that something has touched a nerve.
Is what I have to say helping the situation - ie, offering light to guide me and others - or am I spewing more debris into the storm that only contributes to the damage it can do?
Not only are thoughts and prayers powerful in their own right, they strenghten our actions. They may not be sufficient, but they are necessary.
